Goods-Only Declaration 

If you have a commercial vehicle that does not exceed 3,500 kilograms in design gross vehicle weight (D.G.V.W) . then, in order to avail of the "goods" (or "commercial") rate of tax for it, you must submit a "goods-only" declaration to the Motor Tax Office (MTO)

A "goods-only" declaration is required in order to tax a vehicle at the "goods" (or "commercial") tax rate if the design gross vehicle weight (DGVW) does not exceed 3,500 kilograms.

Article 3 of the Road Vehicles (Registration & Licensing)(Amendment) Regulations 1992 provides that a licensing authority must be satisfied that a vehicle is correctly taxed. In this regard, in order to tax a vehicle at the goods rate, all applicants must confirm that they are registered for tax purposes as a busienss with the revenue COmmissioners by providsing their Revenue Registaion Number,

must complete declatation at a Garda Station if you are taxing the vehicle at the goods rate and the design gross vehicle weight of the vehicle does not exceed 3,500kgs.

Declare will only be used as a goods carrying vehicle in the course of my busienss/trade and will not be used at any time for social, domestic or pleasure purposes
